Yes. Every therapist on our team offers teletherapy for clients throughout California. You can attend sessions from home or anywhere with a reliable internet connection — same depth of care, same quality of relationship.
Sessions typically run 50 minutes to one hour. The exact length and frequency will depend on your needs and your therapist's recommendation — both are discussed at your first appointment.
We specialize in depth-oriented, psychodynamic psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families. Our clinicians also draw from EMDR, attachment-based approaches, and other modalities as appropriate — always within a framework oriented toward lasting change, not just symptom management.
Good therapy helps you understand why you keep arriving at the same place — in relationships, in patterns, in how you feel about yourself. It builds self-awareness, strengthens your capacity to tolerate difficult emotions, and creates the conditions for genuine, lasting change. It's not just a space to vent. It's a space to actually grow.
Couples therapy at Forbes IFT goes deeper than communication scripts. We focus on understanding the underlying dynamics driving conflict, distance, or disconnection — and helping you and your partner develop a more honest, connected relationship. We work with couples at all stages, including those navigating infidelity or serious breaches of trust.
Yes. Confidentiality is a legal and ethical cornerstone of therapy. Your therapist will not share information about your treatment without your consent, except in specific circumstances required by law — such as when there is a credible risk of harm to yourself or others.
We work with late adolescents (typically 16+), young adults, adults, and couples. Our clinicians have particular depth working with people navigating mid-life transitions and emerging adulthood — though we welcome clients across a wide range of life stages.
There's no fixed number. Depth-oriented therapy is typically longer-term — not because we draw it out, but because the kind of change we're working toward takes time to develop and stabilize. Your therapist will discuss this with you directly and revisit it as your work progresses. Many clients begin to feel meaningfully different within a few months; lasting structural change often unfolds over a year or more.
